The Northwest School is accredited by the Pacific Northwest Association of Independent Schools (PNAIS), the Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC), and we are approved by the Washington State Board of Education. Additionally, we are proud members of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS), the National Summer Learning Association, the Association of International Educations (NAFSA), the Diversity in International Education Network, the Pacific Basin Consortium, and the National Business Officers Association.
Every seven years, we renew our accreditation with PNAIS through an intensive self-study and site visit by educators from peer institutions. Our next self-study is scheduled for the 2011-2012 school year.
PNAIS accreditation requires adherence to the highest standards of operation and best practices, and a commitment to the mission of PNAIS and the following essential characteristics:
- Commitment to the Public Good
- Effective Governance and Operations
- Physical Location or Place
- Primary Focus of Academic Education
- Commitment to the Best Interests of Children
